Dr. Shelly Valdez
Hi everyone, I love introducing you to the successful minded women I get to work with in my business. We are all holistic based practitioners who share and educate on how to incorporate essential oils into your life. Everyone of these amazing women have different talents and strengths that they bring to their knowledge of using natural remedies. This week I am excited to introduce you to Dr. Shelly Valdez who brings a special niche of using essential oils!
Dr. Shelly Valdez is a retired education consultant and recently achieved the admirable rank of Silver as a doTERRA Wellness Advocate. She is a cancer survivor who takes pride in living a healthy and holistic lifestyle and she is now pursuing her doTERRA business full-time. She is married to Dr. Raul Valdez. They have 4 children and 5 beautiful grandchildren.
How were you introduced to doTERRA essential oils and eventually the business?I was at the end of a year of cancer treatment and was looking for a natural health alternative to change my lifestyle. I looked at many alternatives, and when I found out about essential oils, they made sense to me. I researched a lot of companies and then found a class at a store close to me. I originally began just as an oil user to get healthy and stay healthy. What are some big goals you have achieved since joining the doTERRA business? In my health, I am healthy, cancer-free, and my blood work shows "ideal" ranges. I feel great! I'm going to be 66 in March and I am running my first Spartan race this weekend! I attribute that to following the doTERRA wellness lifestyle strategy (eat right, exercise, rest and manage stress, reduce toxic load, informed self-care, and proactive medical care) and the associated oils and products like the supplements. In my business, I have recently reached the rank of Silver and am so excited about moving forward and sharing doTERRA with so many people! What has been the biggest personal benefit from working in this business? The personal growth in this business is phenomenal. I am more confident, stronger both physically and emotionally, and love what I do. And I have met and become friends with so many people from across the country and beyond. I have a big, wonderful group of women and men who inspire me and from whom I can learn and with whom I can grow.

Young Women Travel Together Concept[/caption] What sets doTERRA apart from other companies? I researched every essential oil company I could find before joining doTERRA. The three things that set it apart for me in the beginning were the fact that they sourced their plants from around the world to find the best, most potent oils; they did so much more testing and quality control than others; and the values of the company were second to none. I loved the co-impact sourcing and the humanitarian work they do. After being in the business for a while, I now would add to that a fourth thing: that doTERRA's compensation plan is set up to reward us for working to help others on our teams rather than being in competition with them. I love the integrity of that approach. What is your daily oil protocol? When I wake up, I put Balance on the back of my neck, Breathe stick on my chest and I inhale peppermint. I then put lemon or Slim and Sassy in my water and go exercise. After that I eat breakfast and take my LLV, then shower with doTERRA bar soap, and shampoo, followed by the Verage skin care products. I diffuse throughout the day, depending on the need or mood and when I go out I generally put some oil on my heart - my favorites have been Whisper or ylang ylang. Right now I love Rose Touch!! Dinner with the LLV, bed with a diffuser of Breathe and Serenity or additional Vetiver if I need it. What is your favorite doTERRA product? It changes but right now it's Copaiba! Works on every body system, amazing for managing pain. My husband is pain free for the first time in decades. How has your daily routine changed since you became a full-time builder? I feel like I can take better care of my customers because it gives me more time flexibility. I'm able to meet with people during the day if that is more convenient for them. I can also take time for myself and my own personal development and for my family and also my customers and leaders and feel less stressed and more balanced because it is not all crammed into a specific 2 or 3 hour period at the end of the day. I'm really grateful! What advice would you give to those who are in the business but are struggling to rank advance? Don't compare yourself to others; your timeline is your own. Be a servant leader, i.e. do what serves those in your group -- your customers and your builders. Honor them with good service. Plan and strategize with your upline; do what you know will build your business (classes, follow-ups, samples, etc.) and keep on doing it consistently. Keep working on your own personal growth and have faith in yourself. Planning, persistence, self-belief. You can do it! What advice would you give to those who are considering joining the business? Do it!! The oils are the best in the world in terms of purity and potency; the company is one of integrity and service; the people you will meet and work with are all here to help YOU. You will gain wellness, friendship, support, and will help people and touch their lives in ways you couldn't imagine. And you will have a good time doing it! How has doTERRA impacted your sense of purpose? I feel empowered to help people get and stay healthy physically, emotionally, financially. I know that what I do makes a difference for people in all those ways. I'm a pebble in a pond making ripples that touch people's lives in my own small way toward making this a better world. What can be better than that?
